RELIVING

When I was young
I daydreamed
Imagined my nebulous future
Now I daydream in reverse
I grieve or embellish memories
Often I'm silly
I relive
By dancing to Salsa music
Pretending my hips still swing
To percussion's beat
My slim Latin body on fire

LIlian at Dverse Poets asks us to write a quadrille while including the word silly.

  1. You are sooooo not alone in that form of silliness.
    Keep dancing - and dreaming.

  2. LOVING this! It is true, right? The older we get, we definitely dream in reverse...thinking about the times that were. But oh yes....we can still swing our hips to some jive music! Never too old for that!

  3. I am sure you can still salsa with the best of them, it's just that the young look better at all tasks; smile.

  5. I've been known to dance a lick or two to John Lennon across my empty room. Smiles. I love this, Myrna. You so totally rock.

  10. I daydream in reverse as well wishing I did things better than I know I did.

  11. I really like the way you described the dancing as taking you back to that place. Dancing is healing and igniting spirit to me, which makes your "silliness" just right!

  12. Swing those hips! Music is the closest thing to time travel - I stole that quote from somewhere, but I don't know where! - and it's so true.

  13. That is so familiar, daydreaming in reverse! I’ve been silly all my life and I’m not about to stop!
