swirling around, tired of the view,
hoping to jump on a star
in order to haunt some other dimension.
These ghosts fly in my head
transmitting ancient codes
my little brain cannot decipher.
Their messages, like tiny bubbles
burst, creating little pops that disturb
whatever's going on there.
Transformers they are
natural shape-shifters playing
with my fears,
launching monstrous thoughts in my mind
with my fears,
launching monstrous thoughts in my mind
like tempestuous wind swooshing upward,
announcing galactic catastrophe
approaching very soon.
Its devastation already visible.
Suddenly, my dog barks at air,
startling me to see
beautiful mountains still
startling me to see
beautiful mountains still
here, afraid of nothing.
What a lovely sense of companionship
ReplyDeleteLet the dog guide you and carry a big stick:)
ReplyDeleteThe dual states of the beauty of nature and our knowledge of climate catastrophe bother me on a daily basis. Thank heaven for dogs and mountains to keep us grounded and Present.
ReplyDeleteSo much happens when we are not talking or doing while on the scent of prehistoric ghosts and present truths.
ReplyDeleteThis is incredibly beautiful, Myrna!💖 I love the idea of mountains as a symbol of strength and courage. May we always go forth in life with the same conviction.😊
ReplyDeleteOh, wow! What a beautiful recounting of connection, loss of connection, and return again to truth in the now. Very powerful.
ReplyDeleteAh, it seems dogs sometimes sense things that we humans do not sense. I like the atmosphere you set in this poem!
ReplyDeleteAn emphatic YES from here. And huge thanks for the beautiful way you express some of the thoughts rolling in the maelstrom in my head.
ReplyDeleteI love that the poem reads as if the speaker jumped into one of the tiny bubbles, danced with the message of yesterday and tomorrow, and was pulled back out by today. So many memories and experiences living in the same space, in the same thought... And our thoughts, with so little time.
ReplyDeleteOne woman and her dog; at one with their thoughts and at one with the earth. Love it.
ReplyDeleteYes, I think we should make more use of our dogs to guide us. Mind you they do have a tendency of jumping into cold water streams and rolling in unmentionalble stuff.
ReplyDeleteThe perfect rumination for a walk in the mountains..with a dog!
ReplyDeleteyour dog knows and guides you to such beautiful scenery.
ReplyDeletethis is a lovely poem of companionship
It's for the best our animal companions are unbothered by the thoughts that swarm around us like gnats. They can't do much about them, but their presence can be a comfort and reminder to stay in the here and now.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, as always, Myrna!
