Was like dripping ripe fruit
Which I visually tasted
As I watched it sink
Into someone else's night
Winking at morning's sun
Becoming bright
Like a salute or a blessing
An intimate au revoir
Between light and light
How privileged I was
To witness this exchange
A present from the gods of love
Showing me affection
In that tiny drop of eternity
Into which I can still dive
Backstroke swimming through time
In my mind

This is very lovely. And I suspect that is your painting, of the mountains and the morning and it is very beautiful indeed. I remember once, getting on the boat to go to work, seeing the moon still in sky on one side of the harbour as the sun came up on the other. It was spectacular. "A drop of eternity", as you say in your lovely poem.
ReplyDeleteI love the sight of moon at dawn... (but dawn is at 4.05 here so I hope that I'm still asleep)
ReplyDeleteJust lovely. Dawn is not yet here, and I will remember this poem as I watch it emerge...
ReplyDeleteLiked this one a lot. Very original.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful write, you capture the experience well,

You have written so beautifully of your painting, Myna. Savor those memories always....store them up for more difficult days and times!
ReplyDeleteAn intimate au revoir
ReplyDeleteBetween light and light... beautiful!
What a lovely emotive expression of gratitude. I thought that the writing in this was stellar. It is a wonderful piece.
ReplyDeleteCreatively penned.

What a glorious read this is as your words sang a song of something quite mystical.
ReplyDeleteI like your imagination. Nicely done, Myrna.
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing that we are able (if we wish) to enter into the tiniest bit of eternity?
ReplyDeleteI love how you take us right into the heart of the sun - may she always keep you warm
ReplyDeleteWhat a yummy poem. You had me there, with you from Line one to the very end
ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by my Sunday Standard this week
Much love...
Nicely done! I especially like the rhythm of the back stroke near the end!
ReplyDeleteOoh this is so incredibly beautiful!❤️ I adore that orange moon!❤️
ReplyDeleteLots of love,
