Where Blue Footed Boobies reside
I want to see nature's good humor
In her funny bird design
I'd love to visit all countries
To see the native species
That inhabit their sacred grounds
Instead, I stay
Where I am
Where I am
Where coyotes, quail,
Other common desert animals
Will never attract tourists
Yet when I see them
I feel I've witnessed exotic
Miraculous creatures
Being
Being
What they are
Without thought of goodness or malice
Simply nature's chalice
You live in a lovely place with all the exotic desert animals. You are blessed. Happy Easter Myrna.
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful, Myrna, and I share your sense of wonder at the miracles around us.
ReplyDeleteYou poem reminds me of the book "The Sound of a Wild Snail Eating" by Elizabeth Tova Bailey.
ReplyDeleteI loved 'Ths Sound of a Wild Snail Eating', and revel in nature. And your poem.
ReplyDeleteLove your love of nature's gifts. I have always lived in the city, and yet, encountered coyotes, fox, even deer. Once, a hawk swooping down at the end of my driveway, and a pair of great horned owls protecting their nest in my Mother's backyard. I believe they are drawn to those of us who marvel at such encounters, and would never harm them.

No matter where we live, nature's chalice is there - if we seek it out - to offer succor. A wonderful celebration of life for this Easter Sunday.
ReplyDeleteYou have indeed seen a lot of interesting animals, Myrna. Coyotes and quail are beautiful too! I really enjoy observing nature as well....we have a big hawk that dives and swoops around here. Beautiful to behold.
ReplyDeleteLuv your appreciation for nature's gifts in the animal sphere.
ReplyDeleteThank you for dropping by my Sunday Standard today
Much love...
Oh this is soo beautiful, Myrna! You make me want to experience and share the wonder of nature's miracles that surround us.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful. Happy Easter.
ReplyDeleteGalapagos Island is still on my bucket list, Myrna. How I wish I can go there in the near future.
ReplyDeleteI love the humor of the poem, and I think wherever we are, we have these animals, flowers that others want / long to see.
Beautiful bird indeed... and yes to see creatures in their natural habitat is a blessing.
ReplyDelete"I want to see nature's good humor
ReplyDeleteIn her funny bird design"....aw...how i love these lines...life is indeed miraculous...
We always want more don't we? It is always a delight to see wild animals in their own environment and but we should not be sad that our own are not worth seeing too.
ReplyDeleteAll living things are wonderful, really.
ReplyDeleteA marvelous chalice! And if tourists don't come, I'd say you and they are lucky.
ReplyDeleteWith our eyes wide open, we can always see something "exotic" right where we are.
ReplyDeleteI like how this speaks of the contentment of a satisfied heart. It will always find beauty everywhere.
