THOUGHTS OF SPRING

The Desert Blooms.

(I know everyone is not experiencing Spring now.  It will return.  Here it is beautiful.)

Once every Spring, my husband goes
to the local cooperative market
for a "seed share" where gardeners
exchange seeds so others can plant
on their own fertile ground.
They trade ideas, jokes, successes, failures too.
Spring activates love.

                  *
When I go outside I see
little rabbits running,
birds making nests.
At night I hear coyotes howling.
Spring marks that sweet partnership
between earth and animals,
human animals included.

                  *
When I go outside I see
cacti blooming red alongside
shrubs, trees growing green.
Makes me feel how I feel
when I come face to face
with the potential of a newborn.
I realize that what is possible is natural -
rebirth, beauty, growth, all always changing.

                  *
Spring reminds me that hope
is more than a mere wish.
It is tangible, grounded.
It is real, creative, aspirational,
uniquely human.

                  *

I take a walk after the rain and wind
have caressed the air like a loving mother.
I breathe deeply.
Spring is expansion.
It is nature's party calling us to
celebrate spring within us.
We too are a mix of many colors.

                  *

Spring is nature's motivational speech.
It is  earth's "Ted Talk"* teaching
us about joy.

Oh Myrna, this is so very delicate & lovely :D indeed, Spring is the time of new beginnings and of re-birth on Earth. Thank you so much for participating at Prompt Nights.

    Lots of love,

  2. Spring means so much to us!
We look forward to it with hope and wait patiently. If winter is here, can spring be fair behind to spread the cheer? :)

  5. Every line of this is so deeply satisfying to read - because you are right, it is so true. "what is possible is natural". Nature's constant renewal is our greatest promise of the future. Because, given half a chance, she will always choose growth and renewal. I especially love "spring is ....earth's Ted talk". Loved this, Myrna. You are a wise soul. I love that in your area, people trade seeds. Cool.

  6. Lovely.
Though here in Autumn I am relishing the winding down and the time to rest.

  8. Indeed, Myrna, hope is more than a mere wish! It is something that only humans have, don't you think? Spring does give us that kind of joy....the feeling of partnership with nature. Lovely writing, Myrna!

  9. We have been getting snow-showers and really cold temperatures, but I've seen a few rebellious blooms battling against Old Man Winter's trespassing. It's super cold in New York City, but I'm feeling spring in my bones. I hear her speech, and poems like yours remind me that she might be a bit late... but she will be here soon... to rekindle the soil... to remind the trees and animals that her song won't be denied... :-)

  10. How well you expressed the joy we all should have at natures constant cycle of recreation which we are so much a part.

  11. I live in a zone where there are two Seasons: The dry season and the rainy season. However Spring's empathy happens in the religious season of Easter for us; when our Pink and Yellow Poui trees, burst forth in blooms no one can miss such a display

Thanks for dropping in to read mine

    much love...

  16. I hope I know exactly what Spring is be like. I can only imagine, yes, but the natural feel of in deep down my skin would be much satisfying. We only have Summer & Rainy season in Philippines, & thought I've already mastered both with my senses. I hope someday Spring, Fall & Winter will be much more than just a word to me. Thanks for the poem, Myrna! :)

  21. We winter in Palm Desert and my hubby starts seeds down here then we take them back to Reno where he has to re-acclimate to the colder weather--we have gone home to snow before. But spring is so exciting for those of us who love to be in the garden.
