HAPPY SPRING - UNLESS IT'S AUTUMN
There's a poem in the breeze flying
encircling me with scent of desert trying
to be less different than the Spring of everywhere
colors explode demanding your stare.
The flowers here bloom but you musn't touch.
Their biting prickly guards know you won't like that very much.
Cute bunnies abound, you can see them all around
in fields of green and brown, bouncing like clowns,
so different from the chocolate kind kids eat,
first their ears then their feet.
Most peeps here are not yellow
with insides of mushy marshmallow.
They're colorful though sometimes grey
with a sweetness that makes them prey
the way nature designed its way
in deserts or luscious lands, revival of poetry
the moon, the sun, the stars recite for you and me.

Oh spring in the desert must be beautiful indeed. I loved this, Myrna, especially the children eating the chocolate heads and then the feet. LOL.

Simple, yet vivid imagination. Nice!
ReplyDeleteOh Myrna this is delightful...I love the play on the iconic Easter treats and your wildness. When the desert explodes in spring, it is glorious.
ReplyDeleteA glorious capture. Thank you. And happy Spring.
ReplyDeleteBut they have the most beautiful flowers. Spring in the desert :)
ReplyDeleteLoved the title, both seasons are my favorites so I can relate.
Happy Easter, Myrna
Desert spring is something different from the normal greenery one finds. So I thought! But from your lines it does not in any way appear to be much lesser than normal . It must be equally fascinating!

wild imagery,
ReplyDeletelove the heavenly spirit.
This is a very evocative poem, Myrna. It must feel very special to be witnessing spring in the desert. Happy Easter!
ReplyDeletePerfect poem for Easter :-)
ReplyDeleteI have been in the desert a few times in spring. Really lovely to see the plants bloom....your poem makes me want to visit the desert again.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images captured in your desert Spring poem . Your happiness is infectious. Our Autumn is beautiful as well. Still shorts and t shirts weather. Happy Easter !
ReplyDeleteEvery geographical location has their own share of Spring or at least. Basically, here in Philippines we don't have Spring season as we only have a total of seasons in a year: Summer & Rainy season. But, i'd like to claim we that so called Spring too as flowers & greeneries bloom the same too in April or almost the whole period of Summer (Jan to June). The desert would most likely be the least of place I'd like to live in but your poems here made it so as if I'm gonna have lots of fun in there breathing poetry among the breezes. Thanks for the poem. Happy Easter to you & yours, Myrna!
ReplyDeleteYes poems are all around us..truly magical and happy :)
ReplyDeletethis is a treat Myrna perfect for the day...love your first line...
ReplyDeleteeating the bunny chocolates puts the fun in this one for sure, a lovely write
ReplyDeletehave a nice Easter Season and thank you for dropping in at my Sunday Lime
much love...
Your own joy over poetry is apparent here, as you sweep your reader along from green meadow to desert. My sister brought gifts yesterday, chocolate eggs and cookies cut out to be Easter peeps. I was as delighted as any child,

This is so beautiful, Myrna. I feel your words as if they were my own. Isn't is quite something to feel so connected in this way? Your poem is one of my favorites :)
ReplyDeleteSuch a contrast colors and flowers in dessert...so unusual, but beautiful...I feel it...in your words.
ReplyDeleteI loved the imagery in this piece ... very refreshing :-)
