My canine kids - Leroy and Daisy |
Clichés can seem true you know.
Beneath the sun - nothing new.
Movies, books, generations, lives –
often they sound the same -
similar stories old, retold.
But what about the sun?
Does it repeat identical dawns?
Or can there be
a unique explosion extinguished
as never before,
or a ray that falls at an angle
twisted in unique form
that falls on me in sole(soul) manner
sparking inimitable impulses
leading to rare actions, releasing
waves of new ways?
Then, we could meet again like before
under the sun,
but our story never told.

whew...you almost knock the breath out of me in that closing line myrna...could it all happen again...could it come back around...can something so special really happen...felt..
ReplyDeleteThis is a poem to think about. I do believe there is really nothing new under the sun. So much is theme and variations, new to someone....but a repeating theme.
ReplyDeletei def. think yes...certain things in life may have a similarity but in their details, they're so unique and ever new and special..
ReplyDeleteLovely word play here--and a universal question I think--lovely!
ReplyDeletebut what about the sun?
ReplyDeletei love it, especially the playful path you took toward the heartfelt end. so nice. i read it through, then found myself reading it backward and through once again.
Anything is possible! I love how this starts out philosophically, then turns to the personal.
ReplyDeleteI think things may repeat in form....but every explosion of the sun is JUST a slight bit different. No two things are ever exactly alike if one looks VERY carefully.
ReplyDeleteThis is so good. I love how, right in the middle, you pose the question, what about the sun? It's like a turning point in the poem that invites us to invite surprise.
ReplyDeleteYour poem acts to prove there is indeed something new/original under the sun : )
ReplyDeletePowerful close and totally evocative piece!
ReplyDeletea unique explosion extinguished
ReplyDeleteas never before,
or a ray that falls at an angle
twisted in unique form
Seeing the sun everyday, one never thought questions could be posed that set us thinking immediately. What if? Yes, what if? Goes to show there is a lot more than meets the eye! Nicely Myrna!

There is a new discovery to be known every day, every minute really, but alas there seems a shortage of willful explorers.
ReplyDeleteWith your piece you have revived consciousness and the possibilities of unique experiences. It is well if there will be many readers.
Your piece is thoughtfully considered and so well composed.
Cheers!

ReplyDeleteEach one unique and special...
ReplyDeleteMyrna,
ReplyDeleteI love the dreamful possibilities within your poem. In reality I tend to spend time contemplating desires which would be wonderful, if possibility allowed:)
