When I'm poetic in the flow
of the birthing waters of creation,
I'm infused with joy by the hum of its waves.
Its gentle vibration soothes the infant in me.
There's no fussing, crying or need to suckle;
only the real smiles of a baby.
I think the words immersed
in creative waters flow
to show me
the wisdom of my infancy.
(Inspired by the book, "Flow", by Mihaly Csiksentmchalyi, which I read years ago.)
(For Poets United where Sherry asks us to write about the joy of poetry.)
Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, this is a VERY cool response to the prompt. How cool to contemplate that our Muse wells up from the most innocent, untouched parts of us. I love this, Myrna. Love "I'm poetic in the flow of the birthing waters of creation." Stellar lines!
ReplyDeleteLove the opening lines to this marvelous piece :D
ReplyDeleteBeautifully penned!
Lots of love,
Sanaa
The simplicity and innocence of that age are definitely prone to and causes joy. There is comfort in the immersion as well
ReplyDeletethe wisdom of my infancy.... I never thought of it that way.... but, yes, I think you something there.
ReplyDeleteYou enlighten me with "the wisdom of my infancy." Though I often seek that truth in poetry, I find it rare and so even more precious.
ReplyDeleteWhat an incredible metaphor for poetic creation. Love it - and thank you.
ReplyDeleteHow true that we have wisdom in infancy when choices are clear cut but as we grow older we become more daring, careless in fact, searching and failing and long for innocence...but it is there all around us if only we could see as a child.
ReplyDeleteInfused by joy and the hum of its waves describes this poem....the magic of poetry!
ReplyDeleteI can't help but agree with you, Myrna.
ReplyDelete"I'm infused with joy by the hum of its waves"...such a precious line Myrna...thank you...
ReplyDeletethere's something so pure and un-artifical in writing poetry - in letting those words find us... beautiful
ReplyDeleteI'm infused with joy by the hum of its waves.
ReplyDeleteIts gentle vibration soothes the infant in me.
One marvels at poetry retaining the child's wonder of its beauty. Very true Myrna!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful.
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting.
yes i too enjoyed ...wisdom of my infancy. it connotes for me a 'purity of innocence'
ReplyDeletewisdom is pure
nicely penned
This felt so very lyrical, love the message.
ReplyDeleteI don't know about the wisdom of infancy (which I don't remember,) but I do wonder about the "wisdom" of boyhood because I really don't know how much of what I believed back then was a delusion versus a higher knowing.
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem, Myrna. Sometimes the waters of creativity flow freely, gushing out of us like water from a fountain - there is the joy! However, sometimes we have to express each precious drop with great effort and each globule gives one great pain, but at the same time relief...
