Eternally she flowed through obscure
ducts yearning release.
Prison gates dissolved,
the little tear
without control
smearing wet trail
of unknown destination
gaining momentum
for splat inevitable.
Lonely, unaware
of her source
never suspecting
she was paving a way.
She was merely a drop
just part of the whole
forthcoming torrent.

The day is fast approaching. I have followed through with the decision to place Mother and Mother-in-law in a nursing home. They will soon leave.

My heart is breaking, though I know this is best for them and for me. The process is very difficult and I need a little time off to process and allow my body and mind to be still. Please send me good thoughts. I'll be gone for a while and I'll miss you.

  1. Myrna, I'm so sorry you are going through this. I know how painful it is. Still, there does come a time when we cannot provide for all the needs anymore. Sweetie, I wish you the best and you are in my thoughts and prayers. Again, these things are never easy, but it's a decision that has to be made.

  2. This surely could not have been an easy decision. Often when caring for someone else with such capacity we forget to take time and care for ourselves as well. I have just found your blog with the help of Poets United. We are within the same category on the blogroll. I am an instant fan and happily will follow along. I too have spent much time looking and searching to know the spirit within me. Trust that yours will always guide you through difficult times. Good luck and very nice poem.

  3. i think this is a wise decision myrna..you have such a good heart and i think i can imagine how difficult this must be for you..a beautiful poem as well - a net of words for the tears we cry for us and others...sending you hugs..

  4. ((myrna)) it is a hard decision to make, but i think that it is wise as well...a sad but lovely verse...

  5. rivers (yesterday) and their ancestors!

    Aloha from Honolulu :)

  6. Beautiful poem and I can certainly feel the pain you feel. But please take consolation in that fact that you are making the right decision, however hard and harsh it may seem.
I will miss you and am sending you positive energy so you can find the strength to deal with the task at hand.
All the best dear friend, hang in there

  7. all my good thoughts going your way, Myrna. You are making a difficult decision, but the best for you I am sure. They will be fine, you will be able to provide more quality time for them, less stress more love (if possible)...big hug!
(this is OJ from CastaZero btw -- somehow my comments are being posted as such lately)

  8. This is always a tough call to make, Myrna, but I'm sure you're doing what's best for everyone. Positive thoughts, prayers and lots of love coming your way. Hugs.....

  9. thinking of you and your family today Myrna...sending hugs.

  10. Myrna...this is so beautiful. I can't begin to imagine where you are at right now but your decision and the process is full of compassion. You are a gift to your family...& blog friends!

  11. This is beautiful! Crying is such a personal act and one I've found to be absolutely necessary to my continued emotional and mental health.
It's hard to make decisions like yours but remind yourself how much work you put into thinking of it. This will be the best situation for everyone.

  12. Myrna, I know this was such a difficult decision for you, but as your other friends have said, this is the best for everyone. Please know I'm surely thinking of you every day and definitely sending good thoughts and hugs.
