THE SONG, THE WORD AND ME

source

In the beginning
was I a word
Intended to join in the chorus
Of the Cosmo's song?
OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM
Can my tiny, unmelodious voice
Contribute anything to a sound
So long, so loud we cannot hear it?
Does the Cosmos even care
That I don't really know
How to sing?
How can I, if I'm just one word
In one song.
I'm trying to translate the word
That I am.
But all I know for sure is -
it's a verb.

  1. To be a verb could be moving! Especially when we need so little to make a huge difference.

  4. i dont know that it cares what we think of the quality of our voice - judgement like that is far too human. but i am sure that it listens

  5. i love that everyone of us sings their own song - and each song is important and heard by someone for whom the world wouldn't be the same if you didn't dare to sing - so - sing on... smiles

  6. Oh the Cosmos hears and wants your voice to join in the Universal chorus....more voices mean more love, kindness, peace and compassion in the world.

  7. Big smiles. I suspect your tiny voice (all of our tiny voices) are essential for perfect harmony.

  12. OOOOOOOOOOMMMMMMMMM is a universal sound that can lead to the creation of a word, I usually say it 3 times for clarity.

  13. Beautiful piece, Myrna :) Whether the Cosmos recognizes it, the presence is at least evidence that it is there.

  14. "OM" holds the whole universe. In our Hindu culture every mantra of gods starts with "Om".

  15. Beautifully done, Myrna.....Om is not a word but rather an intonation, which, like music, transcends the barriers of age, race, culture and even species.

  16. Being a verb is good as you are doing something!

  18. Wonderful poem, Myrna. Yes, we often feel insignificant in the vastness of the cosmos and the infinitude of eternity, however, that single verb we can utter can travel far and be amplified into a roar that does just what verbs are meant to: DO!
