ABOUT GESTURE DRAWING

gesture drawing is a laying in of the action, form, and pose of a model/figure. Typical situations involve an artist drawing a series of poses taken by a model in a short amount of time, often as little as 10 seconds, or as long as 5 minutes. Gesture drawing is often performed as a warm-up for a life drawing session, but is a skill that must be cultivated for its own sake.  (Wikipedia.org)

The art teacher said,
"Everything has gesture.
It's the form, the (e)motion,
the action that matters.
There's not much time
to develop a finished work.
You're learning to see,
to capture, express essence.
Create smooth, flowing lines.
Relax your grip.
Learn from mistakes.
Love the process.
Practice, practice.
Watch yourself improve."

I wasn't sure
if he referred to drawing
or the art of living,
because
everything has gesture.

You're learning to see" ... Love this.

One sketch, or multiples, in 10 seconds sounds very hard!
