RISE TO SHINE

Each day you rise
because daylight is shinning.
But,
a dormant cell
in your mind
knows
about the darkness.
You're afraid of the dark,
where you can bump, stumble, fall,
hurt, hold on, but lose all.
You may die, the world could end.
Yet,
You allow
that tiny cell
to sleep
while each day you rise
because daylight is shinning.

  1. I like the idea of letting our fears sleep when we rise to face the world each day!

  2. Sigh.. so true that we each know that one day we have to face the end of the world and yet we allow ourselves that moment of peace when we sleep. Beautifully penned!

    Lots of love,

  3. The positiveness of a brand new day obliterates dark thoughts and realities for a time. Good poem.

  4. Love the poem and the title Myrna. It does seem that the night carries with it so much fear.

  6. Definitely! To rise and not shine would be so sad that even I choose courage despite the dark.

  7. Now this is courage I resonate with.....keeping on keeping on, ignoring the hovering dark, because the sun is shining. I love it.

  9. I love the title - in some small way even by waking we achieve this..i hear the effort this seems to take at times..your pared down language hints at a determination and a focus to keep on rising - which is indeed courageous

  13. Just as well that tiny cell of darkness is allowed to sleep each day and we have the courage to take in the light and carry on! Nicely written, Myrna.

  14. Myrna,

There are many times when not all sweetness and light. in other times, the dark side can cause panic and fear. It's most welcome when we feel the guidance of a light to assure our worries...
