silent immobile sentinels observing TRUTH
FLOWing through the heavens and Earth,
the string that intertwines all.
the string that intertwines all.
Or to be my dogs, so LOVING is their nature
that it paints a map for my own HEART
to journey through the happy and sad
stories of the human race, my own little FAMILY,
and the poems that recount them.
But I'm happy being me, in this LIFE
whose future has mostly happened,
making "now" appear so blatant.
(For Dverse Poets.)
I like this a lot. I've often wondered what it would be like to be one of my dogs.
ReplyDeleteJust love this...I did think about adding my dogs to my list of things to be grateful for. I do love those mountains, too. I'm nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada.
ReplyDeleteOh my goodness, how I love this - your mountains, your beautiful loving dogs (how nice that you have TWO and they have each other as well as you - you are SO LUCKY) - love the idea of mountains as observant sentinels, Love the dogs showing you how to paint a map on your heart for the human journey......love this poem so much, my friend! You have a beautiful heart.
ReplyDeleteNow appears all the more important when we realize our days are shorter on the side we are on. All the stories weave together to make the quilt of our lives --- without the rough times, it would have little contrast, you know.
ReplyDeleteAppreciating the the now, the present with all the love & gifts of family and friends ~ Thanks for joining us Myrna ~ It has been a pleasure to get to know you ~
ReplyDeleteYou paint the most poignant truths. Elegantly, simply, beautifully.
ReplyDeleteI very much like that your now is blatant :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, Myrna. In WA state I am bordered E & W by mountain ranges, & I use them as sanctuary & playground; & hell yes, I know it is good to be them. It is wonderful know much of each of us peers through these 12 slender lines. I adore your lines /or to be my dogs, so loving in their nature/that it paints a map for my own heart/.
ReplyDeleteTwo of my favorite things. Fur babies and mountains. I love how you framed this. It speaks to an aware and creative mind and a loving heart. Thanks for letting us in. :-)
ReplyDeleteOh--love love this close Myrna!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful share, thank you!
ReplyDeleteI love the last two lines.
ReplyDeleteOr to be my dogs, so LOVING is their nature
ReplyDeletethat it paints a map for my own HEART
I loved how you made such a beautiful connection through these lines :D
Dogs are indeed loving and faithful creatures. Beautifully penned :D
Lots of love,
Sanaa
How you have made the most out of a life that was rerouted and redefined!
ReplyDeleteShort, reserving some information, but I see the beauty!
Ok, I commented on your previous poem...this one made me think of a life that just happened, not as planned, but you have solid support with your mountains and dogs...love that gets you through everything.
ReplyDeleteYou are better than OK!
ReplyDeleteOr to be my dogs, so LOVING is their nature
ReplyDeletethat it paints a map for my own HEART
These lines so speak to the loving nature of our fur babies, our friends. I wonder how it would be to be one of those mountains and looking at your dogs. I think it would make me a happy mountain.
the now i think is the most important time to live - no matter what age... and so cool to be in peace with the world around you and yourself -having arrived and happy with how things are...and love the pic with your dogs - so very cute...smiles
ReplyDeleteOh.. to live the BLANKeT
ReplyDeletewith eyes of God
SEEING WINDS
of DIAMOND
SANDS BLOW..
God wants to
experience all
don't we feel..
God is free
and so
are
we..:)
Those last two lines are particularly heart-catching, but the whole poem breathes contentment and yet a sense of wonderment too. 'the string that intertwines all' is very evident in the whole poem, a nice flow from one word to the next.
ReplyDeleteOh, if only we were all like our dogs, more loving. Perhaps if we can't be them we can at least learn from them what love and loyalty are all about. Peace, Linda
ReplyDeleteLove this :)
ReplyDeleteAh, good things to appreciate and be grateful for, and I like the poem you wove around them.
ReplyDeleteI love this part: "happy being me" and "whose future has mostly happened". You obviously live in wisdom of knowing we don't control what happens to us but we can choose happiness!
ReplyDeleteMountains and truth are two of my favorite things and so your first two lines just resonate so powerfully for me: "It must be nice to be my mountains,
ReplyDeletesilent immobile sentinels observing TRUTH"---just absolutely lovely lines :-)
