RAINBOW FRED

Rainbow over the UN building.

I like to walk
on cloudy days like today,
as the sky plays with me,
my expectation of rain.
Will torrents pour or
will the clouds dissipate,
while laughing at my umbrella?
Walking I think of Fred,
a guy I know, who plays with the sky.
He has good hearted fun with it's collaboration,
by coaxing air and water to fly
then transform into a rainbow,
a spectacle for our eyes!
Fred has no qualms displaying
his love affair with the elements,
he's wrapped his life in art.
But sometimes art is interrupted
by an artless accidental twist.
Today Fred lies in pain while I walk
expecting rain,
hoping to see a rainbow.

  3. I hope Fred's pain is soon relieved. Anyone who loves. creates, celebrates rainbows is my kind of person. Too many rainbows would be barely enough.

  4. What a cool pursuit that is, making rainbows. I like the sound of Fred! I hope you find a rainbow, today, my friend. Here we are breaking records for heat, the grass is brown and dead already and it is only just turned June. Yikes.

  6. It sounds like Fred has a good imagination. I am glad you thought of Fred while you walked. Perhaps you walked today on his behalf, thinking of the lessons he has taught. I hope he is able to walk without pain again soon!

  11. Somehow I think Fred is afraid his art of making rainbows will be beaten by nature itself...

  22. Just reading this poem...don't know how I missed it. I am still very curious how he made rainbows. That strikes me as quite an artistic thing to be able to accomplish.
