the kind that keeps you
unawake but unasleep?
When crystal thoughts clinking
against others meld
into pure, simple clarity
of nothing but solutions
for your life, for all?
You're astounded
to discover simplicity within complexity.
Then you drift
first to sleep then to reality
with it's big knuckle banging your head,
commanding you to forget the foolishness
of what was just a fuzzy dream.
"Focus on real problems!"
Sadly, you do, the next time you lay
unable to sleep or be fully awake,
though that feeling you felt
from transparency of clear thoughts,
still feels real and lingers.
This is so profusely profound....! It has alot of depth :D Loved these lines:
ReplyDeleteYou're astounded

Even the simplest of things in this world... sometimes appear to be complex to others... as they try to grasp it!

I'm all for the gentleness of fuzzy dreams. Too much reality as it is, LOL. I enjoyed this, Myrna! And like the photo accompanying it! A lot.
ReplyDeleteInsomnia is not a great thing. But there are those nights that you lie awake unable to sleep...when your thoughts become so clear and raw!
ReplyDeleteI wish. How I wish.
ReplyDeleteThat 'big knuckle banging' (love that phrase) is so very painful. And often counterproductive.
Yikes, the kind of insomnia that keeps you unawake yet unasleep is the worst kind of insomnia, I think. It exists somewhere in a netherworld from which you just can't escape - in either direction! Well expressed, Myrna.
ReplyDeleteYes, Myrna, we are on the same wavelength today. I'm not sure if it is more foolish to think we've found an answer ot to let the answer fade into our restlessness. But at least here you are left with a feelingoftranscendence even if you cannot remember why.
ReplyDeleteA good sleep is a luxury we should experience every day.Dreams are enervating and one awakes exhausted.Day dreaming is definitely my preference:)
ReplyDeleteI would love to have those dreams of crystals and turn a blind eye to the problems :) you've written so beautifully Myrna...
ReplyDeleteI am sure many of us have been in that no mans land betwixt sleep and wake when the brain is in a strange place groping around looking for a home!
ReplyDeleteThe dreams sound nice!
ReplyDeleteMyrna, you've so brilliantly described those fuzzy moments, between dream land and reality, where the wishful really do seem attainable, and the scary far away.
ReplyDelete''with it's big knuckle banging your head,
commanding you to forget the foolishness''
Really enjoyed this!
Poppy
I love love love this poem Myra....thank you.
ReplyDelete"Have you ever had insomnia
ReplyDeletethe kind that keeps you
unawake but unasleep?"
We, right from these lines I know this was a poem for me!
Here's to the wisdom of the semi-insomniac - what a lovely pondering poem you have here.
Insomnia is a horrible state..and yes we can make things seem clear in the middle of the night but when morning comes all is once again fuzzy
ReplyDeleteForgetting those moments of clarity is a hard thing.
ReplyDeleteThose 'crystal dreams' make the reader feel the emotions even more....!! Who likes Insomnia...!! In my case insomnia is definitely a head thing...:) Laying in bed, it becomes impossible for me to turn my brain off and I just rehash all of my problems, start writing all the stuff I haven't actually written yet or imagine fantasy versions of upcoming events....
ReplyDeleteThis really struck a chord. Lovely!!
Oh, those nights when I cannot sleep, restless in thoughts
ReplyDeleteas the gears of mind churn away searching for clarity..
Crystal dreams...Beautifully written about a horrible malady
ReplyDeleteI hate having insomnia Myrna ~ I feel miserable and sad the next day ~ But thank goodness I am so tired that I sleep easily nowadays ~
ReplyDeleteHope you are having a good week ~ Grace
Insomnia ....I really had the experience, horrible state whole night I will be planning ..and morning everything evaporates!
ReplyDeleteI have very well connected with these lines.
Myrna,
ReplyDeleteThose fuzzy dreams and sleeepless hours, can be a nuisance. Leaving me exhausted, after all those hours of trying to untangle the fuzzy world, from what I may wake up to!! Loved this..
Eileen
maybe we have to learn to listen to these undertows of our half-asleep mind more often...
