INTERDEPENDENCE

"The shallow consider liberty a release from all law, from every constraint. The wise man sees in it, on the contrary, the potent Law of Laws."  Walt Whitman

I once desired an island,
to live alone, do whatever I wanted.
But this will never be.

Wherever, however I live
there are rules, people, strings
that pull, different currents
that flow around me and all.

If I let them, they teach
or at least help me
question truth
of independence.

Now I want freedom,
something that comes from inside,
allowing me to chose
the best.

I wish this for my country too,
for everyone
in this world,
needing each other.
