Clk, clkkk, clkak
every thirty seconds, annoying
repetitive sounds disturb concentration
then disappear into some hypnotic realm.
Fading, they meld with memories,
fumes depicting buried scenarios,
dreams floating outside the real.
Clk, clkkk, clkak
Curtain descends....
Brides, like zombies roam
in huge Target store
selling wedding garments galore.
A haze covers it all.
Grandmother’s voice inaudible
Loudly reminds that dreams
Of weddings announce imminent death.
Startled I awaken.

Hope of creativity dead
for now.
Embarrassed, I give in.
Sway to the strange rhythm
created by whatever is clanging
in the dishwasher.
(Clearly, the rhythm of the dishwasher is less than inspirational.)

haha...zombie brides at target ---well that could be start of a fabulous bit of commentary, just saying....smiles...ah dont be embarassed, its there....it will come...smiles.
ReplyDeleteOhh! I can relate to these kind of moments. Vain attempt <-- great image.
ReplyDeleteI like this! Especially the brides roaming at Target. Great image.
ReplyDeleteThe rhythm is your dishwasher seems to be MUCH more inspirational than in my own. Which is only an excuse - your grasp on creativity is MUCH more skilled than I can dream of. Though the zombie brides will haunt my nightmares for a while...
ReplyDeletehaha...the zombie brides made me smile... there are certain noises that can rob us off the last nerves...smiles... but somehow - it anyway sparked a poem...smiles
ReplyDeletesometimes we just have to roll with whatever is tumbling through our minds (and dishwashers) and trust that the process is what matters most.
ReplyDeleteReality and creativity blended and interspersed beautifully! The rhythm of the dishwasher can be intimidating. Wonderful write Myrna!
ReplyDeleteHank
Myrna,
ReplyDeleteI recognize those irritating, background sounds. The ones that interfere with our thinking and the clarity. For me it is the bleeping microwave bell. An impatience, not even calling me, but someone else!!!
Happy writing Myrna:)
When nothing comes there is always writing about not writing which nicely fits between the gaps. Well done. >KB
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed this, Myrna, especially the dishwasher muse!!
