It's been raining for days.
Flashing floods crack smiles
in clay desert earth.
Sand shakes from here to there,
rocks glisten, plants guzzle, wolves sing,
birds swim, coyotes yelp (that's how they celebrate).
Mountains remain still
as life above spins green around.
Makes me wonder
if that wild commotion happens
in us too
after drought?

Myrna, good question!! And as I think about it, you know....it might!
ReplyDeleteWell I will be shaking with relief too ~ I love the green colour in fields ~
ReplyDeleteThat wild commotion happens in me in at the end of a writing drought. Love your flash floods cracking smiles in clay.
ReplyDeleteMYRNA!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteMy heart soars when I see your avatar...:-)

Loved your 55
Thanks for playing, and please have a Kick Ass Week-End
This year has had so much rain for us, I think I'd go a little crazy for some sun. :)
ReplyDeleteoh i think it can for sure...when the rains finally come and we find sweet relief...
ReplyDeleteOh yes. In this drought-stricken land when we do get rain, my heart sings. Loudly.
ReplyDeleteSuch a joyous celebration of rain - love the singing wolves and the guzzling plants. I can just imagine the beauty. And yes, that's what happens to us, too, after drought. Mine has lasted so long am thinking I must be one tough old cactus:)
ReplyDeleteA stronger poem for hinting at deep knowing. Wise. Simple. Myrna.
ReplyDeleteAloha
oh i think it does... i usually howl with the coyotes you know...smiles... sorry...somehow missed this.. have to check if sth. is wrong with my reader..
ReplyDeleteGood question! It's always a joy to welcome the rain after a drought! The joy is momentous certainly! Nicely Myrna!
ReplyDeleteHank
Our drought hasn't ended yet...everything is so thirsty! This is wonderful, and of course your closing lines take it to another level.
ReplyDeleteI quite liked that ending. It makes me wonder...! :-)
ReplyDeleteGreetings from London.
I think it does. We need the release!
ReplyDeleteMakes me wonder

I guess it does definitely since the seasons cause many changes within us - I don't know whether they are imagined or actual, though. The rains weave magic in our souls, the wind makes us playful, summer makes us swear and winter wants to be fed!
Loving your verse and relations, Myrna. You think like me. Hugs.
