Boisterous drama queen,
thunder bully,
electrifying threat
I watch
envying your power -
creation, destruction.
Wonder
if you see the difference.
Do you care?
As you watch
us being
like you,
exploding in dominance
drenching everything
with our self/ish
essence, our wetness.
Sometimes we drown.
But there's a rainbow
in us too.
Can you see it?

Happy Birthday Brian!!!
A rainbow inside... of course :-) That's why we are poets... and I see it in your words.
ReplyDeleteMyrna,
ReplyDeleteAnd how insignificant we are made to feel when caught in the midst of a scary storm, monsoon or other frightening weather situation. Powerless until it takes its course...The sight of a rainbow, establishes a hopeful spirit...
Very effective image with your words Myrna:)

I LOVE this, especially that there is a rainbow in us, too. Lovely, Myrna. Glorious!
ReplyDeleteMyrna - Loved the thunder/lightning metaphor here. The story explores both sides now and beautifully.
ReplyDeletesmiles...a rainbow in us too...i like that...i love the awesome power of a storm...we have one brewing out there right now...it was raining on me on the way home...but that was just the beginning...its booming out there now....
ReplyDeleteand thank you...smiles.
Hi Myrna! Don't know who Brian is, but happy birthday to him!
ReplyDeleteYou have some lovely poetry here! I like the illustration of water images and the rainbow. Nice!
Good to meet you today!

Love that ending Myrna ~ Yes, rainbows and all things beautiful ~
ReplyDeleteI'm struck (no pun intended) by the angst of thunder storms and their mystery that you paint here...a great picture of one as well as the metaphor for good and bad or changes,,
ReplyDeleteWonderful use of metaphor here. Great imagery.
ReplyDeleteI very much doubt that nature recognizes the difference in creativity and destruction or that it sees the evil or good in us. It's this very lack of caring or purpose that makes it such a wonder. Otherwise, it would be much as we are.
ReplyDelete!! This is a great metaphor. (self/ish essence) Very creative.
ReplyDeleteThat is seriously a very good poem!!!!!!!!!!!

ha oh yes.. the monsoon in us...i'm glad there seems to be a rainbow as well... and if it shows up there's so much magic that the storm is forgotten... great metaphor myrna
ReplyDeleteI have been known to be a thunder bully :-) sometimes the clouds envelop us and grey 'murks' our world like the skies and the storms, but then there is our rainbow - our moment when we shine - as you have done with this.Nicely done.
ReplyDeleteMyrna Dear....
ReplyDeleteNever apologize to me again
your always poetic 55's are well worth the wait!
Welcome back, Ive missed you.
Thanks for playing, and please have a Kick Ass Week-End
...perfect ending Myrna.... i loved it.... and that rainbow can go a long way.... smiles...
ReplyDeleteA rainbow within us and none the wiser! Seeing a rainbow in all that speaks volumes for the awareness. This is befitting of the talents of poets! Nicely Myrna!
ReplyDeleteHank
Many of us fail to see the rainbow inside; too many others fail to see the storm around it. You've said somethign really profound about the human condition with your 55 words.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful post. I love your poem and the photo is perfect.
ReplyDeleteso beautiful... creation and destruction are deeply linked, we all know this, see it in nature all the time and even in our own lives, but it is hard to hold the two as one in our minds. The both/ands of life... that is where we find our rainbows.
ReplyDeletelove the photo and your poem. Mother Nature never fails to dazzle!
