THE QUESTION OF SNOW

Unusual weather for Southern New Mexico

I know so little.
Even my questions have questions
about their own existence.
They dangle everywhere,
even from snow
that falls not knowing why
or how it is
a cold flake,
soon to liquefy,
evaporate, but not really disappear.

I have so many "whys, what's, and hows",
they disturb, make me focus
on the world's insanity, camouflaging
the answers I seek.

I'm learning though, not to fight it.
Let my questions flow
like snow in the breeze
waiting for transformation.

But I'm luckier than snow.
I can do.
I can influence and change.
Even if answers
remain mysteriously hidden,
I can try to find them.
And even if this world, my emotions,
my mind know confusion, destruction
and war,
I can relate to the serenity of a snowfall.
For at least a moment,
I can be the Peace.

  1. I love this stanza, Myrna:

I'm learning though, not to fight it.
    Let my questions flow
    like snow in the breeze
    waiting for transformation.

And indeed yes, during a snowfall (watching from the warmth inside!!) there definitely is a wonderful feeling of peace! I enjoyed your thoughts.

  2. the serenity of the snow fall...now there is something to meditate on for sure....i no longer fear questions...we are taught that at a young age, to fear questions and fear doubt...i think they both deepen faith though...being the peace....love that...smiles...

    happy saturday myrna

  3. oh, yes, perfect. We've had several feet by now this year, and I have loved all of it, there is something so inherently peaceful about snow.

quite the treat for you in NM!

i've always preferred to hang out with the questions... those answers tend to get too bossy. i love the idea of being the peace.

  7. This is lovely, Myrna. Snow really is peaceful, although I don't like the cold that accompanies it.

  8. ...the greatest thing we can do is to be a peace to the world not just for a moment but as much as we can possible... i am a man of questions too and when i lose everything...all the questions i have in mind... I find inner peace... sometimes it feels good... sometimes not so well... Ah, thanks a lot for a very meditative read in here... Great offering...smiles...

  13. As can I. As can each one of us. Peace begins within and billows out, like an ideally forming cloud. Blessings, Myrna!

  14. Snow in Mexico? That's strange but I like how the strangeness was the muse that knitted your verse.

Lots of love and blessings from India.

    Joy always,
    Susan

  15. What a strong close: "I can be the peace."

That's right up there with "Be the change you want to see."
