JUST TRYING TO DO MY JOB, BUT ...

Some god out there randomly released its wrath
on me - poor, unsuspecting, innocent, ignorant
with no idea of how a modern plague attacks.
It's nothing like the old days,
when a million locusts ate your crop.
Today it's as small as just one bug
who chomps away at unseen things
deep inside a place you've never been.

Anonymously messages appear, continuously haunting,
interfering with my peace.
Any patience I religiously cultivated
drowns
in
torturous
water

ideas of toilets, sewage, damage and hell.

Having no clue as to what to do.
I raised my arms in despair.
When I was almost willing to end it all,
as mysteriously as it came, it disappeared.

Maybe.

Oh no.  It's back!

(Submitted to Dverse poets where Brian challenges us to write about mass media.)

This is not much of a poem.  Sorry.  I'm just trying to express, while disguising my very intense frustration at a %$#**$# bug that's hit my blog.  I got about 100 anonymous comments on my last blog post daily.  They all were related to water, toilets, etc.  Today I thought maybe Blogger had fixed the problem, but before I finished writing this, I got two more anonymous comments.  Arrrrgggg!!!

  1. oh heck...that is annoying...and now i see why you switched on comment approval...ugh...hope those locusts don't come back...they can def. spoil the blogging joy..ugh

  3. I get spammer comments too but I just erase them.

Blogger is good in catching them so it never shows in my comments posts. I don't blame you for the rant as these pests are always on the attack ~

  5. Yikes, sometimes with 'mass media' come mass problems as well. Your poem described the plight well; and I hope the spammer disappears soon.

  6. In a time of mass everything, I'm sorry that mass annoyance is part of the deal. Hope your spam problem gets sorted soon.

  7. It is very irritating. I look up something and then ads for it appear in my sidebar.

  8. Oh I so hear you - once somehow I clicked the wrong thing at Blogger help and got literally thousands of emails into my mail inbox - every single query on every single thread they had going came to me, too. It drove me MAD for two days till finally someone from Blogger gave me directions to make it stop. I get some spam every day now - blogger does catch the obvious stuff, and I have it set so anything older than seven days has to be approved by me. That helped a lot. Glad you set up comment approval. These tech things can be intensely frustrating. I love the way the poem driiiiiips down the page.........

  12. Yep, that is one reason I have never put up my blog on my own webspace -- WordPress does a great security job. They will help you move stuff over to their platform, I think.

This is a blogger template, but is it your own website?
    Anyway, fun poem

  17. P.S. You might consider doing the word verification thing to discourage them. Like a lot of people, I hate word verification, but it sounds like you might need it for now.

  19. they've been visiting me with a vengeance as well of late... into the spam folder they go, but blogger does not seem to notice they've been marked as spam... they just keep rolling in with adds for unmentionable stuff and tv shows I'd never watch... oh well... I completely understand your rant!

  20. You are still talented my friend. I don't like any kind of bugs...if you know what I mean (smile). Thanks for visiting my Blog.

  21. Yes, I get them, too! I have gotten some very sexual ones on occasion. None about toilets so far. Mostly just random junk. Anyway, that's why I have comment moderation--that way I can delete them before they go on the blog. Good luck!
