THOUGHTS WHILE LISTENING TO THE ZEN STATION ON THE RADIO

I'm listen to the song's soothing melody.
I delve into it. My mind blank.
And I am nowhere in some meditative place
suspended within a soft, motionless cloud
of unknowing.
But this lasts only seconds and I awaken
to dream
about what could have been and isn't.
Or is it sleep that resumes?
in this awkward reality
demanding knowledge, motion, doing,
and some passion leading to what -
satisfaction?
It doesn't matter which I chose -
to sleep, to dream, to live.
Here I am yearning. Fulfillment
escapes me, like air exhaled.
But that lasts only moments too.
Soon, the yearning stops
replaced by certainty.
I already have everything.
There is but one true option -
just to live within my peculiar mix
of slumber and dreams while I live.

(I was listening to the song, "Yearning" (by Tom Middletion.)

  1. just to live within my peculiar mix
of slumber and dreams while I live... i like that...sometimes we need those quiet moments that touch us deep within to weigh our soul and touch ourselves again...the dreams, desires, hold them in the light and then... just decide to live with our very own peculiar mix...nice...and great, seeing you at dVerse..

  2. I often find myself slumbering and thinking far away when I am listening to soothing music. Nowadays, my son is listening to sounds of monks and temple gongs while doing meditation.

Just wanted to thank you for your lovely words in my blog~

    I appreciate it.

  3. There seem to be a number of "yearning" poems today. I think that's a natural state of poets. And I do wish I could find a Zen station. That would be so good.
