THE END

Creation decays as scenes fuse
becoming vaporous memories now
meaningless, roles evaporate leaving
identity's shattered fragments. Phantoms
haunt this vacant structure
no longer filled with vibrant drama
flowing with the possibility of dreams.
No sets to transform
No audience to please
No costumes to form illusions
No lines to feign the lies

Alone
Anticipating
Hoping

that the last curtain will finally fall.

  1. I neglected to give credit to the talented photographer, Jacob Lucas. He was interviewed at One Stop Poetry today and provided the picture prompt. Visit the sight to see more of his work - you'll love it.

  2. Like how you build to that crescendo at the end; and you opening line reminds me of how audiences are now taken with scenes that seem to fuse together like non-linear video edits rather than staged drama. Very well done challenge response!

  12. Beautiful, Myrna! I was just thinking to myself that I don't remember stopping here lately...and it looks like I haven't! I don't know why, either...I have absolutely no explanation! Somehow I've missed your posts and I'm truly sorry. I hope to stop by much more often. If you don't hear from me, please give me a holler!
